Extremely common in Caucasians of the Northern hemisphere. This progressive disease causes a thickening of palmar fascia - a layer located just under the skin. Thickened nodules and cords usually lead to progressive flexion deformity of fingers afecting hand function.
Trigger finger management
Triggering of thumb or finger is usually caused by a mechanical impingement of the tendon on it's sheath (cover). It causes progressive pain, clicking, catching and locking of the finger.
Arthritis non-operative and operative management
Very commonly osteoarthritis or inflamatory arthritis affects multiple small joints of the hand and wrist. This can cause an intermittent but progressive pain, swelling and stiffness of those joints.
